The Finance and Treasury Board's Office of the Chief Information Officer Division have an opportunity for a SOC Coordinator to join our team in Fredericton. Join our dynamic, progressive team of information technology and security professionals in an environment in which you can learn, grow, and coordinate on-going GNB SOC activities.

As a key professional in the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) team, you will:

  • Understand the business direction and needs of GNB and Finance and Treasury Board;
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders inside and outside of GNB;
  • Adapt quickly to meet rapid changes to business needs, technology and cyber threats;
  • Work in a helpful and solutions-focused environment that delivers results; and
  • Deliver the best value for GNB cyber security money.

With your excellent communications and organizational skills, you will work hands-on with GNB stakeholders to:

  • understand the cyber security needs of the business
  • coordinate and execute SOC activities to respond to GNB security needs
  • ensure SOC activities are aligned with GNB strategy and policy
  • work with stakeholders to manage cyber security risk

In support of the CISO team you will:

  • Perform SOC services including incident response, threat hunting, threat risk assessments and threat intelligence management
  • Contribute to the GNB SOC strategy and roadmap
  • Coordinate the lifecycle management of SOC people, process and technology
  • Organize GNB SOC training initiatives and maintain a SOC talent management program
  • Monitor and report on GNB SOC performance
  • Collaborate with SOCs in other jurisdictions and the private sector to share threat intelligence
  • Conduct SOC controls testing, including vulnerability scans and penetration testing
  • Perform SOC incident investigations and post-incident analysis
  • Provide SOC consultation on major IT projects
  • Engage information specialists in other areas including privacy and records management
  • Translate technical information into business terms for executives

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: A University degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or a combination of education and extensive experience in cyber security. Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible management and/or IT security positions. Minimum of 2 years of experience in computer systems administration or computer programming.

The ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a customer-friendly, solutions-focused manner is essential.

Must have, or be eligible for, a Canadian federal security clearance.

Written and spoken competence in English is required.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates that possess formal certifications such as CISA, CISSP, GCFA, GCIH, OSCP, CEH, Security+, CCNA or equivalent. Experience in the following areas are also considered assets:

  • information security management systems
  • vulnerability scanning, penetration testing and forensics investigations
  • threat hunting and intelligence management
  • server administration (Unix/Windows), cloud computing and virtual environments
  • formal programming (e.g. C/C++) and scripting languages (e.g. JavaScript)

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications to be given further consideration.

  • Computer network security concepts
  • Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) best practices
  • Security Operations Centre (SOC) processes and concepts

Salary: $2,790.00 to $3,712.00 bi-weekly
