Description:
Our client in the financial industry, located in Edmonton, Alberta, is seeking a talented Senior BI & Analytics Specialist for a 3+ month contract employment opportunity. The successful Senior Business Intelligence & Analytics Specialist will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and development of reporting and analytics. This role will primarily focus on enhancing and maturing the reporting capabilities, advancing the dashboard to tell a story, and helping to shift the organization towards analytics through various artifacts and quick wins. The ideal candidate wil use a varity of BI software programs and other tools and will engage various stakeholders throughout the organization.
Responsibilities:

-Gather and analyze business intelligence data to create and develop insights into the business.
-Generate impactful dashboards with current and historical operational data in brief and intelligible format, suitable for the target audience. Includes executive leadership, department managers, and executive board of directors.
-Develop a plan for gathering data and compile reports that highlight conclusions or significant points of interest.
-Determine prospective data and analytical requests to provide support for business requirements.
-Assess the quality of data, data reports, and the accompanying decisions.
-Establish models to suggest improvement of ROI, cost savings, and decision-making business.
-Conduct analysis of findings and offer action-driven recommendations and insights to stakeholders based on results.
-Conduct trail industry yard stick, trends, and benchmarks, and convey to appropriate parties.
-Provide expert advice and best practice on data standards, data dictionary, business glossary, and data life cycle.
-Investigate opportunities to optimize and automate, help with data root cause analysis, and problem resolution.
-Communicate and document data schemas, sources, data standards.
-Document the integrated data architecture while adhering to security best practices.
 
Requirements:

-Business Intelligence or a computer science degree, and 7+ years of relevant work experience.
-Outstanding knowledge of implementing visualization techniques.
-Strong data analysis and interpretation capabilities. High comfort level with evaluating and dissecting statistics.
-Experience analyzing and carrying out interpretations by utilizing intricate data sets.
-Experience with a variety of research tactics, and the ability to determine the best methods for obtaining specific types of information.
-Comfortable using BI software programs and related technology.
-Knowledge of data architecture, systems architecture, standards, frameworks, and practices.
-Expertise in various BI/analytics tools.
-Strong business accumen and agile methodology.
-Excellent communication skills.
-Must be eligible to work in Canada.
