We are currently seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team in Victoria, British Columbia (CA-BC), Canada (CA).
DevOps Specialist
The Senior DevOps Engineer position calls for a great deal of versatility including complete understanding of how to reduce gaps between development teams and operational teams through processes, automation and incremental improvement.  The primary duties include joining a fast-paced agile delivery team, development of deployment pipelines and scripts, support for automated testing including code coverage, security checks, and notifications of build errors, as well as close communication with the team. You help streamline getting new environments running, and your scripts and pipelines give everyone confidence when the decision is made to deploy working code to a target environment.
Ability to deliver functionality that is prioritized using Agile methodologies, to support all technical aspects of modern digital applications. You will
-Design, development, and deploy CI/CD pipelines
-Provide operational support, and continuous evolution of existing pipelines
-Support Integration of code quality, security scanning, and QA tools with pipelines
-Work with application teams to ensure smooth deployments of tools, patches and upgrades
-Mentor and coach team members
 
What’s Necessary:
-3 years of hands-on experience with DevOps tools and approaches
-Strong hands-on troubleshooting and deployment experience at least one automation tool (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab, Bamboo, Tekton)
-Infrastructure automation knowledge and experience with tooling (e.g. Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform, Jenkins)
-Experience with infrastructure scripting solutions such as PowerShell, Bash, PHP or Python
-Experience with Docker
-Some cloud experience (Azure, AWS, GCP).
-OpenShift and Kubernetes experience
-Familiarity with agile software development in Python, JavaScript, PHP, C#
-Familiarity with systems monitoring, log aggregation, and dashboard solutions (e.g. Elastic, ELK, Splunk, Prometheus)
-Experience with promoting a DevOps culture and introducing it to new teams.
-Excellent written and oral communication skills
-An understanding of what is possible, what is not possible, and the maturity to communicate this to our clients effectively
-Experience with solutions using spatial data
-Experience with highly integrated solutions – many interfaces to get / put data between system boundaries
-Ability to work with repositories like GIT/Bit Bucket/SVN etc.
 
Icing on the Cake:
-BC Government Private Cloud Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) experience
-Amazon Web Services (AWS) Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) experience
