To support this goal, the North Zone Addictions and Mental Health department has an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker II candidate with the NZ Assertive Outreach Team. The Addiction and Mental Health portfolio co-ordinates, plans, delivers and evaluates a province wide network of AHS programs and contracted services. We work with a common purpose: to promote understanding and compassion, to encourage healthy behavior and attitudes, and to help all Albertans achieve well-being throughout their lives. This position serves clients in area 1 (High Level, Ft. Vermilion, and surrounding areas) through a Recovery Oriented Psychosocial Rehabilitative framework. This role provides the opportunity to be creative in the development of current and new programming and services to support the Addiction and Mental Health needs of AOS clients. As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to AOS clients and their families. Your services may include psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, as well as transition or discharge planning. This position also involves consultation and collaboration with interprofessional team members and outside agencies involved in the client’s recovery plan. Required Qualifications: Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications: Use of Microsoft tools and Connect Care. First Aide, BLS, & Psychosocial Rehabilitation. Experience in health care or settings with transferable experiences e.g. Human Service Agencies, Primary Care Networks, etc. Knowledge and experience working with diverse and marginalized populations using an inclusive lens of equity and diversity. Knowledge and application of trauma informed care and harm reduction. Understanding of the impact of severe mental illness and stigma.
Preferred Qualifications: Education or training in mental health is an asset. Recent experience working in the community with clients with a severe and persistent mental illness and/or who have complex needs is an asset. Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office is preferred.
