Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, the Coordinator is responsible for a variety of staffing and scheduling duties, and supervising other Staffing and Scheduling Clerks. Providing technical supervision, education and leadership to YHC staff; providing staffing support to all continuous operations departments, recommending and implementing process improvement and seeking to improve quality, improve efficiency and reduce costs; provides or designates staff training.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
  • Knowledge of scheduling provisions of collective agreements
  • Knowledge of First Nations culture and traditions
  • Knowledge of supervisory and management techniques including staff and work scheduling methods and practices, recruitment and performance management;
  • Ability to understand and interpret budgets; including solid understanding of budget variances and implications.
  • Excellent use of office equipment including computers and office software; such as spreadsheets, excel, e-mail, word; Kronos scheduling software:
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills;
  • Ability to work independently under pressure with constant interruptions;
  • Ability to take direction from various sources and meet deadlines;
  • Good recordkeeping skills;
  • Ability to multitask and provide leadership direction in demanding situations;

  • Ability to set priorities and to show good judgment;
  • Proven ability to supervise, coach, mentor and lead staff;
  • Knowledge of and compliance with YHC corporate policies and procedures;

  • Champions professional development and continuing education for all staffing and scheduling staff. Ability to apply knowledge to the performance of the staffing clerks and related procedures in relevant disciplines;
  • Ability to multitask and provide leadership direction in demanding situations;
  • Ability to assess and evaluate resource requirements;
  • Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, professional and respectful working relations with all YHC staff, management and health care partners; and,
  • Commitment to lifelong learning.
The successful candidate should have completed One year of experience scheduling in a unionized environment, Minimum

of two (2) years' experience in a supervisory capacity, Proficiency in writing departmental policies and Standard Operating

Procedures (SOP's), Diploma in or related field.
