The University Endowment Lands (UEL) is an unincorporated area located between the City of Vancouver and the University of British Columbia, with a population of approximately 4,000 residents. Services provided to this area include the provision of public works (water, sanitary, storm, solid waste, sidewalk and road infrastructure), development services (planning and building construction regulation) and administration (permits, licences, and bylaw enforcement).
The Engineering Projects Coordinator provides project management and technical support to all components of the program. To be successful in this role, you are able to work effectively in a team environment, while also independently managing projects and tasks. You are a skilled analytical thinker, an effective communicator, have excellent time management techniques, and thrive in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as an Applied Science Technologist in British Columbia in an appropriate disciplinary field.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical diploma in a related field (e.g., civil, and structural, environmental engineering, survey geomatics), plus a minimum of 2 years of directly related experience in coordinating municipal and/or development projects. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience and understanding of GIS mapping systems.
- Experience in dealing with municipal processes and regulations.
- Experience with software used in a municipal setting including, but not limited to: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS PowerPoint, AutoCAD, and GIS mapping.
Preference may be given for one or more of the following:
- Certification as a Project Management Professional;
- 2 years' (or more) experience in contract management and/or project supervision; and/or,
- 1 year (or more) of experience supervising staff.
