DNV’s Civil Engineering team is growing rapidly, and we are looking for you. Our team is comprised of highly skilled civil, structural, and geotechnical engineers, consulting to the world’s largest stakeholders for solar, wind, and battery storage energy projects and we need your help. We are seeking a structural engineer who is ready to grow and develop while supporting our US and Canadian team. The Structural Engineer - Wind, in this position will be exposed to the broadest cross-section of wind and storage projects of any renewables company in the world supporting a wide breath of civil engineering projects by providing civil, owners and independent engineering consulting services for the renewable industry.

What You'll do
Review of design drawings and calculations for solar and wind energy foundations structural support systems, to support project financing
Evaluation of pre-market design concepts for wind energy structural support systems
Evaluation and root cause analyses of wind energy system structural failures
Observation and documentation of wind energy construction
Review of documentation of onshore wind energy construction
Similar tasks, to a lesser involvement, for solar structural support systems
Proposal preparation for civil work scope for onshore wind services
Project management of small to medium projects
Work with a geographically diverse team, within North America and internationally
Provide a flexible schedule
Position Qualifications:
What is required
Master of Science – Structural Engineering
E. or P.Eng. License
4 to 8 years of structural engineering design including at least 2 years of design and/or research experience of wind energy foundations and structural support systems
Proficiency in IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, NBCC, EuroCode and other common structural design codes
Proficiency in SAFE, SAP, ABAQUS and other common structural analysis programs
Proficiency in PYTHON, MATHCAD, and/or MATLAB coding for structural engineering applications
Detailed understanding of fatigue in reinforced concrete subject to high cycle demand (DNV-ST-C502, Eurocode, CEB FIP MC 2010)
Understanding of foundation systems for utility scale onshore wind turbines
Understanding of typical construction methods for wind energy
Proven HSE mindset and demonstrated behavior-based safety mentality
Able to work independently and make independent decisions when called for
10% to 20% percent domestic travel (US and Canada) and 5% travel internationally
Must be able to use common construction personal protective equipment, walk over uneven terrain, climb ladders
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
We conduct pre-employment and background screening
What is Preferred
Structural Engineer (S.E.) License (NCEES SE Exam compliant)
Prior research or design experience with reinforced concrete wind turbine foundations, prestressed concrete
Prior research or experience with wind engineering and energy
Understanding of common Solar PV foundation systems
