Job Description

Please note: This posting is for a 4-month Student Summer 2023 placement with a start date of May 2023, and end-date of August 2023. In order to be eligible for this 4-month Student position, you must either:

  • Be returning to school after the work term end-date of August 2023; or
  • If you are not returning to school (i.e., are graduating in August 2023), you must require the work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.

What is the opportunity?

The Strategic Initiatives Intern will partner with key shareholders within RBC - Insurance to champion both national and regional business development opportunities. As a member of the Business Development team, the Strategic Initiatives Intern will be responsible to provide strategic and tactical support to the Senior Manager of Business Development in HNW, along with channel leaders.

What will you do?

  • Ensure a Client First strategy is executed with all initiatives introduced within the business channel
  • Maintain a professional, effective, adaptable workforce with complete understanding of business channel/region dynamics
  • Consistently analyze business performance looking for opportunities and gaps with specific recommendations and support to implement business performance solutions
  • Ensures that sales training, coaching, and messaging, incorporates the Proactive Sales Culture and enables the tenets, particularly Best in Class Sales Force, Maximized Sales Activities, Clients as Advocates, and Increased Sales Focus.
  • Effectively communicate and reinforce RBCI vision, organizational values, National Office, and business channel/regional strategic direction
  • Provides support and back up to channel leaders for sales coaching, routines, and business development

Must Have

  • Ability to analyze data quickly and be very comfortable with Excel and Salesforce.com
  • Ability to present to senior leaders in an impactful manner
  • A quicker learner and ability to demonstrate value to business impact
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Self-learner and ability to demonstrate initiative

Nice to Have

  • Financial or Marketing background
  • Advice experience
  • Ability to demonstrate working in teams and to provide both quality and quantity of work.
