Reporting to: Supervisor of Recreation Programs and Camps

Department: Recreation

Classification: Summer Student; Unionized

Salary Range: $18.11/hour as per Schedule “B”

Starting Date: July 2, 2024

Job Summary

Find out how rewarding a smile can be! As a Summer Camp Inclusion Leader you will help children with exceptionalities develop social, cognitive and physical skills through their summer camp experience. You will help prepare and adapt activities to enable children to take part in daily programming and maintain ongoing communication between participants' families and camp staff.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe, clean, and enjoyable learning environment and during off site excursions,
  • Share in preparation, development, implementation, and evaluation of camp programming,
  • Be a team player and work alongside as well as communicate adaptations to camp staff to promote inclusivity within our camp program,
  • Communicate and share pertinent information and feedback regarding participant's involvement with camp supervisor, city staff and the participant's family,
  • Maintain confidentiality of parents, children and fellow caregivers,
  • May need to complete some personal care such as assisting with changing and/or feeding,
  • Attend all training as required (Inclusion, City of Woodstock, PHCD, Behaviour Management),
  • Physical demands are required of this position including lifting, running, bending etc.
Qualifications

Essential:

  • Minimum of attending University or college in related field and must be returning to school full-time
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions and be physically able to perform dutie
  • Must have or be willing to obtain Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certification
  • Must have or be willing to obtain Principles of Healthy Child Development
  • Must have or be willing to obtain Safeguard Certification
  • Must have a Class G2 Ontario Driver's License in good standing and access to a reliable vehicle

Preferred:

  • Training in the area of inclusion

Working Conditions

  • Scheduled 40-hour work week, which may include weekends and alternate shift hours.
  • Will be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • May be required to work overtime.
