Job Description:
To provide all departments and field staff with technical information, data and support based on requirements. Maintain inventory and preventative maintenance on layout and survey equipment.
Job Duties include, but not limited to:
- Oversee layout/grade employees.
- Assist HR with the recruitment and onboarding of layout/grade persons.
- Assist with training new employees.
- Manage the collection, dissemination and backup of related data.
- Analyze data and communicate findings.
- Generate survey and machine control layout data.
- Setup calibration of projects.
- Calculate of quantities for takeoffs for estimating.
- Create plans, plots and write reports.
- Liaison with internal departments and external companies.
- Follow company health and safety policy, workplace policies, procedures and rules.
- Make sure equipment is in working order and report any problems.
- Advise and assist in purchasing new layout/grade/survey equipment.
- Survey duties or assistance with duties may be required at times.
- All other duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications:
- Postsecondary diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or approved education/experience equivalent (CET qualified).
- 3 years survey and survey data processing experience, creating 3D models, road alignments, templates and point and line layout data.
- Work related experience in construction services including sewer, water, grading and road construction.
- Preferred knowledge and understanding of Highway design, OPS standards, Ontario Traffic manual and the OHSA.
- Microsoft Office, Terramodel, Paydirt, Autocad, Ontario Base Maps, COSINE.
- Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational/analytical skills with clear oral and written communication abilities.
- Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques.
- High level of personal integrity and bondable.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work cooperatively with other staff.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
Work Conditions:
- Travel to various sites will be required (vehicle will be provided).
- Indoor and outdoor environments; various weather conditions.
- Weekend and evening work may be required.
- Laptop and mobile phone will be provided.
