Description

The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety has an opportunity for creative, innovative and flexible candidates to fill the role of Substitute Teacher Therapist at the Paul Dojack Youth Centre. As a Substitute Teacher Therapist, the successful candidates will provide an education program to youth in custody ages 12 to 17 being held under the provisions of The Youth Criminal Justice Act.
To qualify for this position, you must have knowledge of the Saskatchewan school system Core Curriculum, Elective courses and Common Essential Learnings; educational methods including behavior management techniques for adolescents, classroom management, instruction techniques assessment and curriculum; and multi-cultural beliefs, values and perspectives. You must have knowledge of human growth and adolescent development and the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
You'll also be required to possess a minimum of a Bachelor of Education with preference to experience in a custody/community interfaced program; a Professional "A" Teaching Certificate; and the ability to be registered with the Saskatchewan Teachers' Regulatory Board.
You will also need:
- Should you receive a successful offer of employment, you will be enrolled into a paid 11-week Induction
- Training Program (ITP). The next ITP will be offered in April 2024.

- A valid/current Class A, First Aid CPR/AED certificate (must have no less than 12 months remaining), or a valid Class A, CPR/AED and First Aid (completed within three months of employment); and

Physical Requirements
- Effective January 15, 2024, the COPAT requirement for employment will be replaced by a comprehensive medical evaluation completed by a licensed medical practitioner.
