CGI Federal is hiring a Director of UI Architecture experienced in front end technologies and JSON/REST APIs who enjoys working in fast-paced, collaborative environment. We are implementing large scale system modernization efforts across software products involving migration to modern architecture and containerized environments managed using innovative DevSecOps automations and processes. This person will work with product managers, subject matter experts and development teams to create software designs, scope technical initiatives and epics, evaluate new technologies, and develop architecture frameworks and complex product features in support of program priorities. The ideal candidate will have experience in software architecture and development of enterprise solutions leveraging industry leading platforms and technologies. This “hands-on" position requires solid technical and exceptional interpersonal skills.
This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office. This role can be performed from one of these other preferred locations Lebanon, VA, Knoxville, TN or Lafayette, LA

•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical discipline
•7+ years of experience in design and development of highly scalable enterprise applications that run on premise or in cloud environments.
•5 or more years of experience as a Software Architect, Solution Architect, Principle/Senior Engineer (Lead Developer), or similar role
•Solid understanding of JavaScript, CSS3, HTML5 and MVC frameworks
•Strong experience in JavaScript libraries/frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue
•Experience working with responsive design, Bootstrap, Typescript and modern frontend programming design patterns.
•Experience developing reusable web components and advanced visualizations using charting libraries such as Highcharts and modern grid system.
•Experience in system design based on Microservices architecture & JSON/RESTful API design and implementation.
•Practical experience in test driven development
•Technical background and experience in Java
•Experience with source control and build automation tools (GIT, Gradle, NPM)
•Experience developing and documenting architecture framework capabilities for use by development teams
•Experience working in SAFe/Agile development environment.
•Excellent communication skills, strong presentation and leadership skills
•Strong analytical, problem solving and diagnostic skills.
•Team player with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and goals.
•Proficiency in Federal accessibility standards like Section 508
•Extensive experience doing design and code reviews and providing guidance to development teams
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Working knowledge in
oLinux environments such as RHEL
oCloud native tools, patterns and open source software
oJava based frameworks and technologies such as JBoss, Spring Boot, Spring Data/JPA and Spring cloud.
oContainerization and related technologies such as docker, kubernetes and CI/CD automations and tools
oDomain driven design and service oriented architecture
oRDBMS and data modeling
•Experience with continuous deployment tools (e.g.Jenkins, Tekton )
•Experience in mobile app development
•Experience in NoSQL databases or search engines like Solr
•Experience in Software delivery and customer implementations
•Experience working with remote teams
•Experience in Federal security standards and policies that govern enterprise applications
