Willowdale Animal Hospital is welcoming a full-time Veterinarian, DVM to join our team of highly engaged veterinary professionals.
Over and above your primary Veterinarian responsibilities, this is an opportunity to provide Medical Director leadership for the Hospital. We can support your growth by providing professional development for this role too!
The ideal candidate for the Medical Director position will be confident and excited about building a strong team that aligns with our values. A few key attributes and responsibilities are:
- Provide excellent veterinary medical care for regular and urgent care appointments
- Oversees surgical and medical cases for veterinary doctors ensuring positive outcomes and accurate estimates
- Review and enhance protocols when required according to regulatory requirements
- Working in partnership with the management team you will direct and foster the veterinary staff to deliver exceptional client experience and excellence in veterinary care
- Create and nurture a culture of “teamwork” and “exceptional client service”
- In partnership with hospital manager and leadership, review financial performance and general operations for areas that require improvement, and also to celebrate goals achieved monthly, quarterly and annually
- Participate in recruiting of qualified Veterinarians; externships, referrals, attending career fairs and hiring summer DVM students
- Experience working as a lead Veterinarian in an active hospital
- Experience leading a team of veterinary professionals when addressing changes and/or improvements to medical protocols
- Dedicated to promoting team-based medicine practices
- Exceptional interpersonal skills in working with your colleagues, pet parents and community
- The ability to adapt quickly when an urgent case arrives at the hospital
- Exceptional coaching and mentoring capabilities; leading by example
