- Job Type: Part-time 28 hours/week (Flexible)

- Salary: $27.47 - $30 per hour

- Location: Edmonton, Canada (Work from home, but local travel necessary)

- Hours of work: The nature of our services requires a time commitment that may vary weekly to support move planning and execution. While we strive to provide some scheduling predictability, the successful candidate must be willing to embrace flexibility within their working hours. If you are adaptable to the fluidity of this role, then this would be the role for you.

About this Role

Shelter Movers is seeking a Volunteer Services Manager to lead a team of volunteers to develop and execute the Volunteer Services Strategy. Reporting directly to the local Chapter Director, this pivotal role involves supporting the execution of the strategic plan among volunteer functions, refining policies and procedures, and overseeing project management initiatives.

The Volunteer Services Manager Role is the best fit for a leader with a strong background in team management, particularly within the nonprofit sector. The ideal candidate will possess advanced interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills, along with a knack for problem-solving. What you’ll be responsible for:

- Supporting the Chapter Director and National Volunteer Services Director in executing Shelter Movers’ strategic plan, as it relates to Volunteer Services

- Select, train and manage a team of volunteers and/or volunteers

- Grounding recommendations and decisions in evidence, using key performance indicators to understand volunteer behaviour
- Attending recruitment and engagement events in person in Montreal

- Creating and providing reports and analysis where necessary to demonstrate the effectiveness of current policies and procedures

- Identifying, developing and testing process and policy improvements to enhance volunteers’ experience at Shelter Movers

- Actively contributing to national Volunteer Services team meetings and with ideas and feedback on national initiatives and procedural changes

- Managing ongoing and temporary projects (e.g., student placement programs) as needed

- Updating and refining volunteer orientation presentations and facilitating when needed

- Assisting other chapter-level functions when necessary
