Pekiwewin is seeking a mature, responsible and professional individual for a Youth Counsellor.
Under the direct supervision of the Pekiwewin Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking 1:1 counseling; case management; supervising youth on daily programming & activities. Duties of this position:
- Intake / discharge process of youth
- One to one counseling
- Pre-post assessments
- In conjunction with Supervisor(s), create a therapeutic care plan
- Develop & facilitate treatment programming, group sessions
- Working relationships with family members, social workers
- Regular reports & maintain client files
- Supportive relationship with clients
- Assist in modifying counterproductive behavior and attitudes of youth clients through supportive techniques and counselling
- Ability to anticipate problems, see potential impact and gather information, weighing alternatives to arrive at a reasonable decision
- Devise and implement extra curricular activities
Minimum qualifications: Certificate or Diploma in Addictions, Chemical Dependency and experience in working with youth. Applicants must have or be eligible to apply for certification through a recognized organization such as: CCPC, CACCF, FNWAC in order to work with youth in the area of counseling. Must have a valid driver's license, driver's abstract, CPIC & Vunerable Sector's check. Applicants must lead an addictions free lifestyle, promote their own wellness and an interest in promoting First Nations cultural based programming. Also, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proven reliability and the ability to work in a team.
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Starting date will be as soon as possible.
