These positions exist as a result of funding received through a Children’s Health Foundation 3-year grant to provide mental wellness supports and services to clients of TVCC and their families. We are interested in hearing from candidates with the lived experience with disabilities and who have the ability to direct their own accommodation needs within a workplace setting.
The designated office for these positions is London. Services are provided in Middlesex, Elgin, Oxford, Huron, Perth, Grey and Bruce counties. A flexible work schedule is required, including some work on evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities:
Work with TVCC teams to facilitate group events relating to topics of wellness for youth with disabilities and their families;
Assist the Wellness team in supporting youth in understanding, effectively using, and/or linking to available resources;
Support project-based work for services for youth at TVCC
Elicit feedback and input from TVCC youth by regularly engaging with TVCC’s Youth Advisory Council Trailblazers and subcommittees;
Assist with the developing of best practices and evidence informed services (e.g. literature review) and resources for families
Connect with youth in a variety of group settings (e.g., community, video conference, Centre, etc.);
Assist with the creating and executing of social media posts
Administrative tasks such as event planning documentation, GoldCare Planning Calendar or as requested by the FACS manager
Participate in the ongoing evaluation of the service.
Support the coordination and provision of both virtual and in-person year-round activities and education for TVCC youth clients and their families
Provide perspective to TVCC on youth engagement
Qualifications:
Enrollment in a post-secondary program;
Preference will be given to students in a related post-secondary program or with relevant previous experience;
Preference will be given to candidates with lived experience with a disability;
Experience with group facilitation and event planning;
Understanding of risk management when working with youth;
Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within an integrated team;
Strong communication skills, both written and oral, or equivalent with assistive devices or assistive technology, including the ability to communicate effectively in groups and individually;
Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision;
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
Creative problem solving skills;
Strong computer skills including proficiency with Word and Excel, as well as familiarity with social networking tools and video conferencing software (e.g., Zoom);
Ability to travel within the London area is required. Ability to travel within Southwestern Ontario would be considered an asset.
