Job Summary

As a Claims Initiatives Specialist you will assist with the adjudication of disability claims by participating in Claims Initiatives in a team-oriented, multi-disciplinary environment. You will also be responsible for applying appropriate risk management strategies and delivering superior service to our clients.

Please note: This posting is for a 4-month Student Summer 2024 placement with a start date of May 6 2024, and end-date of August 30 2024. In order to be eligible for this 4-month Student position, you must either:

  • Be returning to school after the work term end-date of August 2024; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in August 2024), you must require the work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.
    Please ensure that you meet these eligibility requirements before applying - candidates who apply but are found to be ineligible are not able to be considered.

What is the opportunity?
As a Claims Initiatives Specialist you will assist with the adjudication of disability claims by participating in Claims Initiatives in a team-oriented, multi-disciplinary environment. You will also be responsible for applying appropriate risk management strategies and delivering superior service to our clients.

What will you do?
Contribute to Claims Initiatives through:

  • Client correspondence, conducting telephone personal contacts (TPC’s), emails
  • Case load reassignments, and distributing follow-up reports to the claim’s specialists
  • Updating all systems with caseload changes and follow-up dates
  • Reviewing files for existing offsets and pursuing offsets, as required
  • Recognize and investigate complex issues and escalate, when appropriate these issues to their Claims Consultant or Senior Manager
  • Effectively manage multiple clients’ needs and internal job demands
  • Duties as assigned

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Ability to multitask and balance multiple goals and priorities according to deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skill
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with customers in a manner that is professional with a high degree of customer service
  • Ability to effectively manage change
