What is the opportunity?
We are looking for a Summer Student to join our growing team of data engineers, scientists, developers, and analysts. You will play a pivotal role in analyzing and detecting trends, providing insights to various partners, and creating effective visualizations designed to minimize the time it takes to derive valuable insights from large data sets. You will be responsible for collaborating with product leads, data analysts and Data Scientists to design, launch and iterate on user-centric data insights use cases.
What will you do?
- Analyze large datasets to derive business insights
- Design solutions which deliver data-based insights using big data technologies, hands on data engineering, programming, data mining, and visualization techniques.
- Improve your business acumen and ability to bridge technical to business outcomes and insights
- Collaborate with data engineers to source and understand data
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
- Experience in building statistical and algorithmic models with complex and large datasets, Natural Language Processing, data analytics, and data visualization
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL.
- First-hand experience working with popular Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and notebook environments
- Strong understanding of data, statistics, and data structures
- Professional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate between technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem (PySpark, HDFS, Hive)
- Experience working on an Agile team
- Fluent, oral and written, in both English and French
- Experience with GitHub or similar tools
