2024 Summer Student
Painting, Housekeeping, Support Services and Plant Stores
Background:
ArcelorMittal Dofasco is now accepting applications for Summer Student positions starting May 2024. Students will work in all outdoor environments supporting one of our Manufacturing Business Units and Plant Stores. Successful students will be assigned and required to work in one or more of the following functions:
-Entry level work station roles
-General housekeeping
-Painting
-Administrative and data entry duties
-Packaging
-Shipping/Receiving support
-Dispatching tasks
 
Job responsibilities:
-Adhere to and fulfill all employee
responsibilities
set out in the ArcelorMittal Dofasco Health & Safety Policy/Program and COVID-19 protocols
-Perform daily maintenance and upkeep of production facilities and assets
-Participate in daily production activities
-Actively participates as a member of the team
-Operate and handle a variety of hand held tools and materials
-Provide administrative support and data entry activities
-Perform internal duties as dictated within the department requirements
-Support safety and good housekeeping practices
-Support department goals and objectives
 
Criteria for Selection:
-Currently enrolled in full-time studies at a university or college and returning to school full-time in September 2024.
-Must be at least 18 years of age.
-Must be available to work full time until end of August 2024.
-Preference will be given to those students enrolled in post-secondary education closest to graduation and who have not previously worked at ArcelorMittal Dofasco as a Summer Student.
-Students currently in high school and attending post-secondary in September are not eligible . 
-Students who have previously worked at ArcelorMittal Dofasco as a Summer Student are eligible .
 
Applicants must be able to:
-Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (Safety glasses, steel toed boots, hard hat, respirator, hearing protection, long sleeves and long pants)
-Work at elevated heights 
-Climb ladders and stairs
-Occasional heavy lifting
-Use various hand tools
-Work indoors and outdoors in elevated temperatures and humidity
-Work in environments that may be dusty and noisy
 
Hours of work: 
8.5 hour day shifts (6:30 AM-3:00 PM) 
OR
10.5 hour dayshifts, Monday to Thursday OR Tuesday to Friday with overtime as required.
