As an Acquisition and Divestitures Analyst on the Energy Investment Banking team at National Bank Financial Inc. (''NBF''), you will participate in a wide variety of transactions headed by senior members of the investment banking team. You will gain exposure to the firm’s business and deepen your knowledge of the investment banking industry.
Your Job
  • Actively participate in a wide variety of transactions led by senior members of the team
  • Prepare materials/presentations to facilitate capital raises from public/private capital markets, M&A mandates and pitching/marketing
  • Technical due diligence, evaluation and review of oil & gas reserves
  • Complete detailed financial models and analysis
  • Perform extensive research and database work

NBF is a full-service, fully integrated investment dealer with a strong national presence and international capabilities. As an established player in the North American markets, NBF is committed to adding high calibre resources to its Investment Banking group. This group currently consists of over 170 professionals located in offices in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, and New York. The Investment Banking Group at NBF has demonstrated considerable momentum over the last few years, experiencing strong growth in deal flow.
NBF’s Energy Investment Banking team is looking to hire an Acquisition and Divestitures Analyst to work out of its Calgary office. The successful candidate will benefit from on-the-job training and mentorship, supplemented by occasional third-party training in financial modelling and various tools used in our day-to-day work.
Although the emphasis is placed on analysis, financial modelling and written presentations, candidates must also demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and other advisors.
Basic Requirements
  • Outstanding academic performance in the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Geology combined with additional credentials in Finance, Accounting or Economics
  • 2 to 4 years’ experience in upstream oil and gas, Reserves evaluation are key alongside any relevant experience in investment banking, equity research, capital markets and/or energy/infrastructure related experience is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of corporate finance, accounting and financial modeling and of key themes impacting the capital markets
  • Excellent numerical and analytical abilities, and strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • A positive, enthusiastic and co-operative attitude
  • Completion of, or enrollment as a CFA candidate is considered an asset
  • Experience with geoSCOUT, Value Navigator, Mosaic is considered an asset
