Job Summary
An opportunity to utilize your expert analytical and problem management skills
The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure plans transportation networks, provides transportation services and infrastructure, develops and implements transportation policies. The Ministry's priorities include improving vital rural and urban infrastructure, investing in public transit, cycling infrastructure and other green modes of transportation, reducing transportation-related greenhouse gas emissions and strengthening the economy through the movement of people and goods.
The Property Acquisition Coordinator is responsible for managing all Property Acquisition activities and delivery of property for projects including resource budgeting, contract management, appraisal valuation, business valuation, land survey, road closures, expropriation and related project management. This position leads, plans and manages Property Acquisition projects for fee simple, crown land, gravel pits, statutory rights of ways, temporary licences and easements. This role works with considerable independence and is expected to demonstrate substantial initiative, wide discretionary judgement and creativity in Property Acquisitions addressing pertinent issues, risks and contingencies.
Job Requirements:
  • Grade 12 plus a Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Urban Land Economics with Appraisal Option; an equivalent combination of related education and experience may also be considered.
  • Professionally recognized training in business administration, management, commerce or appraisal.
  • Accreditation with the Appraisal Institute of Canada (AACI) or RI(BC) Appraisal Option.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in project or program management, Property Acquisition, survey or negotiation, preferably in the public sector.
  • Experience in planning, coordinating and managing projects and contract services.

Provisos:
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence or equivalent.
  • Must be willing to travel and work alone as assignments dictate.

About this Position:
There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available.
This position can be based in any of the following locations: Vancouver, West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, Surrey, Delta, White Rock, Coquitlam, Langley, Aldergrove, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Squamish, Whistler, Sechelt, Victoria, Nanaimo, Courtenay, Duncan, Campbell River, Parksville, Ladysmith, Port Alberni, Sooke.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.
