Job description

Title: Advanced Education Registrar
Department: Advanced Education
Status: Fulltime, Permanent
Classification: Professional = $38,038 - $53,599 annually
Reporting to: Manager of Advanced Education
Closing date: January 11, 2024


Summary of Duties:

Under the direction of Manager of Advanced Education, the Advanced Education Registrar is responsible for supporting Manager of Advanced Education with administrative roles/duties and supporting student progress.


Key Deliverables and Expectations:

  • Provide on-going, one-to-one guidance, encouragement, and personal & emotional support as necessary for students
  • Provide support to students to help them complete class assignments, prepare for exams, and complete their courses
  • Help students access services (counselling, tutoring, academic advisor, etc.)
  • Coach students regarding educational issues such as course and program selection, timetables and scheduling, school adjustment, attendance, and study skills.
  • Education Pathway with course & program planning (eligibility & requirements & budgeting review, processing paperwork/applications/ funding agreements)
  • Liaise with secondary schools to support transitions plans
  • Site visits to various institutes with the Manager of Advanced Education, to provide resources and connections
  • Incorporate and participate in cultural activities and resource knowledge keepers, spiritual workers and medicine peoples
  • Administrative tasks (e-requestor, payroll, timesheets, GPA/transcripts, ISC Reports, filing & progress reports)
  • Perform other related duties as requested


Experience and Attributes:

  • Relevant post-secondary education (such as Office Administration, First Nations Studies, Diploma/Bachelor certification, etc). An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
  • An understanding of trauma informed practices
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Lil’wat Nation history, UNDRIP and Truth & Reconciliation Calls to Action Plan to help advocate for funding, student rights and supporting administrative reporting with funders
  • Demonstrate knowledge in various learning needs and remediation as it applies to the learner
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in the English language
  • Ability to work independently and as an integral member of various teams
  • Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines prioritizes assignments, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain confidentiality
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with Erequestor processes.
  • Motivated self-starter and with strong interpersonal skills
  • Highly professional in all aspects of business, presentation and interaction with all stakeholders, clients, and Members
  • Must be able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check
  • A clear Drivers Abstract, valid license and ability to drive to institutions
