Our After School Program operates throughout the school year in Edgewater Elementary . The After School Program Manager / 1 Staff will work part-time, up to seventeen (17 ) hours per week, Monday to Friday on a flexible schedule.
As a Manager , you will be a dynamic leader with expertise in Early Childhood Education focused on developing the growth and quality of our Out of School program. You will work closely with the Board and Leadership team of WVCCS to create a rich environment for children, families and staff to reach their full potential. You will support the training of new staff, maintaining excellence in all areas of managing and leading your program, including, planning, supervision, safety, licensing and community building.
The after-School Program will operate at Edgewater School Monday to Thursday from 2:30 - 5:15 and Friday from 12:30 - 5:15 on school days. There will be full days 8 hours a day on Pro D Days, Spring break 2 weeks Monday to Friday ( March 18-28 ) , 4 weeks in the Summer (July 15 to August 12) and Winter Break (Dec. 30- January 3 ) this year.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Create a welcoming, inclusive, safe, respectful environment for all students;
2. After School Program will require adults (1 or 2 ) to students (10or20) ratio;
3. Work collaboratively to plan, implement and assess developmentally appropriate activities and experiences;
4. Manager will complete the required reports and submissions;
5. Communicate with Principals and teachers at participating elementary schools;
6. Answer questions from parents and guardians;
7. Other duties as required.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Minimum 19 years of age;
- Completion of the Responsible Adult 20 hour online course prior to start date;
- A valid Child Safe First Aid Certificate;
- A clear Criminal Record Review, completed prior to hiring;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and outstanding interpersonal skills;
- Proven organizational and planning skills;
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of parents, children, volunteers, professionals, and community members;
- A proven ability to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for diverse children and families;
- A class 5 driver's license
