- Provide agricultural crop services such as plowing, irrigating, cultivating, spraying, fertilizing, and harvesting
- Operate various types of farm equipment and machinery
- Maintain and clean various types of farm equipment and machinery
- Troubleshoot malfunctions and conduct minor repairs
- Maintain quality control and production controls
- Ensure farm safety
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of secondary school preferred
- One year of experience
- Mechanically inclined
- Able to work overtime during peak seasons
- Valid Driver's License
GOOD TO KNOW!
Major field crops grown in Western Canada include wheat, canola, barley, corn, soybeans and (seed) potatoes. Other crops include rye, oats and mixed grains. Spring planting typically takes place in April and May and silaging season usually starts mid-June. Harvesting activities generally end in October. Some employers are able to provide sufficient work during the winter months as well.
