About the role
We’re looking for a Senior AI Developer to join our team, the Accelerators!
The Accelerators team is part of the Enablers group in the Data Lab with a mission to bridge capability gaps and enable teams through research and experimentation to make informed suggestions about tooling, frameworks, and ecosystem choices.
What you'll do here:
- Lead development of full stack AI prof of concepts and solutions.
- Be the go-to expert resource for supporting AI expertise and systems in internal projects.
- Scope and prioritize work in close collaboration with the team, making trade-offs when they’re appropriate, while maintaining the focus on long term roadmaps that align with the Data Lab's goals.
- Participate in the technological watch and definition of development standards.
- Collaborate with other teams across different projects to align work and work with machine learning researchers and data scientists to develop models and implement research findings.
- Participate in the exploration, evaluation, and selection of the appropriate technologies.
- Ensure the high level of quality of the work delivered.
- Strengthen the development team productivity.
What you bring to the table:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
- At least 7 years of significant experience in software development.
- At least 4 years of significant experience in AI/ML development.
- Excellent leadership skills, including mentorship, planning technical roadmaps, making trade-offs, and prioritization.
- Excellent Python skills and well-versed in software programming principles, especially API design (Flask, FastAPI, etc.).
- A very good understanding of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence concepts.
- Familiarity with machine learning technologies like PyTorch, scikit-learn, NumPy, pandas, spaCy, NLTK etc.
- Preferable to have Deep Learning, HuggingFace Transformers, NLP experience.
- Cloud experience with AWS services and Amazon SageMaker is a plus.
- Frontend experience is a plus: JavaScript, React, or web app libraries for data science like Gradio, Streamlit, etc.
- Being comfortable with uncertainty, pivots and rescoping based on experimental findings and insights.
- Ability to make complex concepts easy to understand and communicate and explain trade-offs to non-programmers.
- No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
