About the role
We’re looking for an AI Enablement Principal Engineer to join Intact Financial Corporation.
You will play a key part in our AI enablement and acceleration squad as we transform technology delivery. You will work within our technology group – collaborating closely with specialists in cloud, architecture, security, software engineering and data to enable the infrastructure, tools and models for the rest of our technology organization and millions of customers in Canada.As an AI Enablement Principal Engineer, you will continue to develop specialized experience in applying and productizing AI using new infrastructure, models, and tools. You will stay up to date on AI research and development and will translate these technological advances, into practical outcomes in an enterprise environment. As the AI Enablement Principal Engineer, you are comfortable sitting at the intersection of traditional software engineering, machine learning, AI research, and product development and have a bias for both experimentation and action.
What you'll do here:
Lead the full-stack enablement squad and help drive the AI enablement vision with a cross-functional team.
Take ownership and delivery on key milestones in our multi year roadmap.
Understand the bigger picture to identify use cases and propose solutions to deliver on business and customer outcomes.
Leverage your technical expertise in software engineering to implement best practices to further the development and deployment of technology solutions at scale.
Work with a dynamic team supporting a data driven organization and its mission.
Enable AI productization through a deep understanding of enterprise software architecture and development – working fast to assess feasibility and value.
Provide executive level governance and communication updates on strategic AI projects – regularly interfacing with the Canadian CIO, Chief Digital & Data Officer and other senior executives.
Develop collaborative working relationships across the IT and Data teams.
Coach and develop a cross-functional team to deliver on project outcomes.
What you bring to the table:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Data Science or related education.
Previous experience as a technical lead or applicable experience (10+ years) – fluency in common programming language including python, JavaScript.
Working knowledge of AI and ML from an AI engineering perspective including but not limited to; closed and open-source tools, GPT, Claude, Huggingface, and Llama.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
Strong orientation toward value discovery – ability to identify and explore valuable AI advancements for practical business use and custoamer experience improvement.
Experience coaching and developing a technical team – act as a strong peer and coach helping to inspire and develop others.
Significant experience working with large data sets and developing solutions that can be implemented at scale.
Deep knowledge of software building blocks including infrastructure, security at an enterprise level – working knowledge and experience of natural language processing and unstructured data.
Need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across the country.
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
