Position Purpose:
The Information Technology team supports Mayfair's overall mission and goals. Mayfair’s mission is to provide our patients with the highest quality of diagnostic services in partnership with hospitals and community healthcare providers. This is achieved by attracting and developing outstanding clinical, contact centre, and support staff, investing in state-of-the-art technology, and leveraging our digital network to improve access.
The Information Technology department is dedicated to enhancing patient care by providing advanced and reliable technological and clinical solutions. This commitment fosters a high-performance clinical environment. As part of the IT team, you will join a unified group of professionals specializing in creating, designing, developing, integrating, testing, implementing, and managing various diagnostic imaging IT systems. Our expertise covers a broad spectrum of systems, including Picture Archive and Communication Systems, Radiology Information Systems, Voice Recognition Systems, Integration Engines, and Artificial Intelligence platforms. Collectively, these systems play a crucial role in improving patient care outcomes.

This position is a client-facing role to assist end users, including radiologists, technologists, and support staff, in using current and new AI-enabled clinical applications or other AI technologies. Duties and Responsibilities:AI Solution Implementation:
  • Evaluate, validate, implement, and monitor 3rd party or in-house developed AI algorithms tailored for Diagnostic Imaging, focusing on improving efficiency, and clinical outcomes.
  • Develop and Manage AI Steering committee processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and match them with effective AI solutions.
  • Develop in conjunction with the vendor and business subject matter experts to understand requirements and document requirements, including business, functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Partner with vendors to develop a deep understanding of their product features and functionality.
  • Responsible for managing small-to-medium-sized projects, which include developing project charters, formulating project plans, developing project communications, defining resourcing requirements, setting project schedules, and stakeholder management.
  • Positively represents Mayfair Diagnostics and/or the department on internal and external boards, committees or working groups as required.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work collaboratively with project teams and partners to define communication strategies and promote understanding of projects and associated clinical and AI support systems.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts and findings effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Educate technologists and radiologists to assist with optimal algorithm implementation and performance.
  • Establish and maintain trusted relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Understand and anticipate the business group’s needs to identify opportunities and make recommendations to support the current and future state AI application use cases.
Research and Innovation:
  • Conducts Research and Development activities, stay current with the latest advancements in AI, particularly as it pertains to medical imaging technologies, to contribute to the continuous innovation of our diagnostic services.
  • Participates in selecting and evaluating products and solutions, assists with proof-of-concept deployments, and provides recommendations.
Data Governance, Analysis and Management:
  • Lead data governance initiatives to ensure the integrity, security, and privacy of healthcare data used in AI programs.
  • Build and implement a robust data management practice to maintain consistency in the quality and structure of data utilized for AI applications.
  • Support developing, training and validating machine learning models for image recognition, classification, and predictive analytics.
  • Perform ongoing monitoring of AI algorithms in use, ensuring they remain effective and adaptive to algorithmic shift and drift.
  • Oversee and participate in data labelling processes, focusing on identifying and extracting significant features from the data essential for evaluating and training models to validate or enhance their performance.
Workflow Integration, Optimization, and Support:
  • Leads the configuration, testing \ validation, implementation, and monitoring of AI technologies into existing workflows \ clinical applications.
  • Work with the systems integration team on clinical system upgrades, including developing test scripts for testing new functionality and validating all clinical scenarios.
  • Document current workflows \ processes, continuously identify opportunities for improvement in partnership with stakeholders, and update workflows \ processes accordingly.
  • Establishes and insists on high-quality standards for all system implementation and support deliverables.
  • Maintains data modelling, code development, code management, root cause analyses, and error handling expertise.
  • Participates and adheres to IT Change Management processes and practices and can be called to assist with Change Advisory Board coordination activities.
  • Create and update all relevant documentation, such as standard operating procedures, user guides, requirements documentation, QA (Quality Assurance) \ testing artifacts, solution architectures, system blueprints, or presentations.
  • Maintains and updates weekly/monthly status reports.
  • Required to participate in on-call rotations and\or shift coverage.
Quality Assurance and Performance Optimization:
  • Conducts Quality Control, and Quality Assurance reviews to ensure that solutions satisfy business needs and maintain or exceed quality standards.
  • Implement rigorous testing and validation procedures to ensure AI algorithms' accuracy, reliability, and safety.
  • Conduct in-depth statistical analysis of datasets to extract meaningful insights, translate complex data into understandable conclusions that can drive algorithm improvements.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of AI models, incorporating feedback from radiologists, clinic staff, and vendors.
  • Partner with radiologists, technologists, infrastructure, and operations teams \ vendors to ensure diagnostic imaging processes and technologies are configured optimally for AI algorithm operations.
Information Security, Privacy and Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensures systems, data and integrations comply with Provincial and Federal regulatory requirements to protect Health and Personal Identifiable Information.
  • Collaborate with Privacy and Security team members to facilitate the approval process for AI algorithms in medical diagnostics.
  • Creates, evaluates, and updates Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA).
  • Establishes compliance parameters and targets for application environments to ensure they meet or exceed industry best practices.
  • Assess, evaluate, organize and report on accurate and timely audits, vulnerability assessments and remediation actions.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Computer Engineering sciences, Data Science \ Statistics, or a related field. 5 years of relevant work experience may be considered.
  • Proven experience evaluating AI data outcomes using statistical analysis.
  • Proven experience in developing, deploying, and supporting AI algorithms, particularly in medical imaging data.
  • Experience supporting Information Technology landscapes in Healthcare or Medical Diagnostic Imaging and\or Teleradiology environments would be beneficial.
  • Experience working with Diagnostic Imaging Information Systems such as RIS \PACS, Voice Dictation Systems, HL7, DICOM, and Medical Imaging Equipment would be beneficial.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and MATLAB. Proficiency in relevant libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Knowledge of large language models (LLMs) such as GPT 3.5/4 and others is an asset.
  • Experience in .NET framework development with skills in C#, ASP.NET, MVC, MSSQL, and specifically with DICOM.
  • Experience with Microsoft and Linux-based server \ desktop technologies and\or Cloud technologies (Azure \AWS).
  • Basic understanding of Network, Security, and Authentication related protocols such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, TCP/IP, HTTPS, TLS, IPsec, LDAP, Kerberos etc.
