The Ministry of Social Services, Community Living Service Delivery (CLSD), Crisis and Respite Services works with individuals experiencing intellectual disabilities to ensure their physical, emotional, and social needs are met with goal of supporting their independence, living arrangements, and lifestyle as independent as possible.
Respite workers focus on creating positive, engaging experiences and are accountable to the individuals receiving services. We are seeking caring and empathetic individual(s) who welcome challenges, are proactive, love to learn, embrace change, have a strong work ethic, and enjoy variety in their work while making positive meaningful changes in peoples lives. This appointment is located at the Southwood Home in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Respite offers emergent and planned respite services. The purpose of respite is to maintain the health and well-being of the individual, their care provider and/or family by providing temporary support.
Respite workers support individuals and provide quality person-centered services. Your hands on work and engagement with the individual is conducted in a learning and supportive manner and utilizes your effective communication, positive role modeling, patience, adaptability, leadership, and organization to assist in completing the following responsibilities:
- identify, assess, and evaluate physical, emotional, and personal needs of the individual receiving services.
- facilitate recreational and social activities.
- assist with personal care (hygiene, meals, dressing, transportation), and life skills.
- effectively communicate both verbally and in written form.
