MAINTAIR AVIATION SERVICES has a 35+ year history of providing safe, customer focused aviation services. As we continue to grow, we are currently seeking candidates for FULL TIME RAMP (BTW) SHIFT LEAD in Ottawa!


SHIFTS AVAILABLE:

Maintair operates 24/7/365 in Ottawa and has a range of morning, daytime, night and overnight shifts available for Full Time Candidates.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Ramp Shift Lead is an accountable BTW position that will work under the direction of Maintair Management Team to ensure all aspects of aircraft handling are completed according to specific company policies & procedures. This includes but is not limited to; All client carriers as well as ad-hoc charter flights. Safety, attention to detail, following company procedures, and team work are key components to be a successful Shift Lead. Leadership and team management capabilities are essential for the successful candidate. The ideal candidate must possess verbal & written
communication skills, be energetic, outgoing, understanding and accepting of change. He/She must also be flexible and able to deal with the adapting nature of aviation, including call-outs to the company mobile phone.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure sort, load, unload baggage and cargo from flights is per air carrier policy.
Manage approximately 4-12 flights per shift.
Ensure lavatories and potable water are serviced per company standards.
Engage work team of up to 16 people to meet Service Level Agreements and carrier policies.
Propel and engage new team members through direct mentorship and hands-on training.
Advise management of no-show or late team members and productivity issues.
Manage shift schedule and address no-shows, lates, sick calls, including replacement team members.
Delegate tasks as required; Manage downtime productivity with your team.
Delegate flight duties, per flight and ensure accountability.
Be hands-on and work with the team ensuring safety and efficiency are priority.
Complete necessary FOD Walks, Pre/Post Flight Briefings, Workplace inspections etc.

Work with all co-workers and customers (ATW, BTW) to ensure strategic and efficient use of your team.
Ensure the safe operation of all GSE and related equipment and report violations.
Ensure daily inspection of all equipment is complete, and DSI logs complete.
Ensure GSE and related equipment is serviced, kept clean and useable at all times.
Complete equipment deficiency and hazard reports as required.
Complete and ensure accuracy of MVT Reports.
Attend all required training sessions and successfully complete training courses.
Actively participate in company and air carrier safety programs.
Communicate changes in policy to the ramp team as they occur.
Work as a team member in a safe, efficient, professional manner.
Adhere to, and manage published uniform standards and PPE requirements.
Follow all safety guidelines and safe workplace procedures.
Follow company SMS Program – Safety; First, Last, Always.
Other duties as assigned by management.


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent experience (Post Secondary Education Preferred).
Minimum one year existing Ramp and/or Supervisor Experience or equivalent experience.
Current Criminal Record Check required.
Current Restricted Area Pass (RAIC).
Knowledge of aviation and its related terms, short forms and verbiage.
Must have valid driver’s license with clean abstract.
Ability to speak, write and understand the English language.
Must have excellent team player competencies.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision, and/or in a team environment working varied and/or split shifts.
Must be able to supervise a team of up to 1, working on varying air carrier ops procedures.
Must be able to manage and engage conflict resolution procedures when required.
Must be willing to adapt to the changing nature of aviation.
Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Must communicate all concerns to management.
Must maintain a professional and experienced level of service with all Maintair customers.
