Job description

Are you looking to work alongside an enthusiastic and dedicated team of hospitality professionals on BC's wild coast? Nimmo Bay is currently accepting applications for the Guide Team and looking for an Airport Greeter for Port Hardy.

A successful Airport Greeter is the first and last Nimmo Bay team member our guests will see and interact with. This individual would be friendly, professional and helpful with managing our guests at the Port Hardy Airport and be available to help coordinate their transfers and answer any questions they may have. The Airport Greeter is also the key communicator between Nimmo Bay’s city office team, onsite resort office team and the Wilderness Seaplanes team. They help communicate any delays and/or provide any useful information to the various teams.

The Greeter would be able to read through reports sent from the City Office, and assist with transfers for guests arriving by car, private jet, helicopter, and scheduled PCA flights. They would be identified by their Nimmo Bay clothing and be Nimmo Bay’s friendly face in Port Hardy! They would assist guests transferring to floatplanes, helicopters or boats and provide them with water and possible refreshments provided by Nimmo Bay. Additionally, they would tag suitcases with cabin numbers, which helps with a smooth arrival process once they land in Nimmo Bay.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Offers a warm, friendly welcome to all Nimmo Bay guests
  • Always upholds professional and kind communication to guests and team members
  • Pass along any details to the Nimmo Bay team that would be of value (ie if the guest mentions they’ve had a terrible travel day; they are celebrating a birthday etc; mention they cannot wait for some kind of beverage, etc). Anything that might help the Nimmo Bay team with their arrival and anticipating their needs would be considered valuable.
  • Communicate via WhatsApp to Nimmo Bay’s city office, onsite office and Wilderness Seaplanes dispatch team as necessary
  • Tag bags according to cabin numbers
  • Provide refreshments and water to guests when needed
  • Help facilitate communications with guests when there are delays or ‘change’ of travel plans in a professional and helpful manner
  • Help guests store bags in Port Hardy when needed

Qualifications.

  • Working knowledge of transfer logistics in Port Hardy Airport and Nimmo Bay Resort
  • Professional communication skills with guests and with the Nimmo Bay team
  • Experience with quickly adapting to change and assisting/communicating with last minute travel changes to guests
  • Comfortable working with and bridging communications with Wilderness Seaplanes, Nimmo Bay and West Coast Helicopters (pilots).
  • Experience using WhatsApp groups
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Efficient problem solving skills
  • Open communication with Nimmo Bay
  • An understanding of Nimmo Bay’s culture and standards.

JOB OUTLINE Expected Shifts Worked and Tasks to be Completed :

● 5-8hr shifts on Nimmo Bay transfer days, typically Monday and Thursday (occasionally these days may shift, but not often, and not without sufficient notice)

● Be prepared for shifts by reading through reports and guest information for guests travels of that day. These are typically emailed the day before.

● Be available to welcome guests back to Port Hardy from Nimmo Bay around 2:00pm and help them with their connecting transfers. Transfer could be: driving from Port Hardy, assisting with Car Rental, boarding a Private Jet, or boarding Pacific Coastal Scheduled flight

● Be available to welcome new guests to Nimmo Bay, who will be checking in around 3:30pm for their floatplane/helicopter transfers. Guests will be landing by private jet, driving to Port Hardy (may need to answer questions regarding parking), or via Pacific Coastal scheduled flight. Please welcome guests off PCA flight and help direct them to check in for the floatplane charter.

● Personal welcomes whenever possible, by picking up on details such as a birthday trip or any little bits of information that would make the guests experience special and personalized.

● Bag arriving guest’s luggage with Nimmo Bay cabin number (provided by Nimmo Bay team)

● Help with any ‘extra’ cargo coming in/out on guest transfers

● Communicate between the Nimmo Bay and Wilderness Seaplane team any updates or information. Be available to respond to text messages during shifts (approximately between 1:30pm – 5pm). Nimmo Bay will provide a phone for this position

  • Port Hardy, BC V0N 1K0: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

  • Customer service: 2 years (preferred)
