Key responsibilities of the Interest Rate Risk Analyst include interest rate risk modelling and reporting, helping to establish and maintain funds transfer pricing models, such as for loan prepayments and non-maturing deposits modelling. This position will have exposure to the full range of activities performed by the Asset-Liability Management (ALM) team, including liquidity risk, interest rate risk analytics and Net Interest Income (NII) Forecasting. This position reports to the Head of Asset Liability Management.

Responsibilities
  • Produced and monitored the interest rate risk exposure for Laurentian Bank.
  • Developing tools to automate and streamline risk reporting processes, utilizing robust controls and consistent design to improve risk reporting transparency, granularity, accuracy and timeliness.
  • Performs periodic NII Forecasts, Stress test scenarios and risk exposure analysis.
  • Explains actual results and variations from forecasts.
  • Performs periodic back-testing procedures to validate model assumptions and maintains documentation supporting ALM assumptions. Ensures that the documentation complies with model governance requirements.
  • Collaborates with other teams such as Finance, Accounting and Risk in a variety of projects, including models related to Funds transfer pricing and risk modelling.
  • Measures and reports the Laurentian Bank’s exposure to the stock-based compensation program
  • Stays up to date on best market practices and the regulatory governance framework for interest rate risk

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Economy, Accounting or equivalent
  • Experience in ALM or Treasury within a financial institution would be an asset
  • Understanding the Balance Sheet management would be an asset
  • Excellent Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including VBA Coding. Other programming skills would be an asset
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills – strong oral and written English and French*
  • CFA, FRM or other professional designations is an asset
  • Qualifications
Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.
