Key Responsibilities Include:

In this role, you will use extensive medical knowledge and the Trupanion policy to review medical records, specialist reports, lab results, and invoices to complete an accurate secondary review of claims as part of our appeal process. Must communicate closely with treating veterinarians, hospital staff, outside specialists, and pet owners throughout the secondary review process, answering calls from hospitals to initiate the appeals process and communicating the outcome to pet owners with veterinarians via phone and email. In addition to assessing appealed claims, you will provide phenomenal customer service to existing pet owners and veterinary hospitals regarding current, future, or past claims.

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of veterinary technician or assisting experience in a clinic/hospital environment. Preference will be given to candidates with licensed technician credentials.
• Experience providing excellent customer service over the phone.
• Demonstrated computer competency with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent typing and 10-key skills.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

• Advanced knowledge of veterinary medical conditions and medical terminology.
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently, and be self-motivated
• Fluent in Spanish and/or French desirable (additional $1/hour)

Compensation:

• The pay for this position is $30.42 CAD an hour, on a full-time schedule. Along with the hourly pay, Trupanion employees may be eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual or team performance.
• We want all employees to be invested in Trupanion’s success, so we grant Restricted Stock Units to all new team members. Our new hire grants vest over 4 years.
