Position Summary:
As Application Engineer for Commercial Team-BC & YT, you are a mechanical engineer with extensive experience in designing, specifying, and providing engineering support for commercial, Ventilation and Applied HVAC products. In Addition to design and project management support you will be engaged in providing design, selection, education, and training support to outside commercial sales engineers.
The position reports to the Commercial Business Manager – HVAC Division – BC & Yukon.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain thorough technical knowledge of the HVAC products line ups of Mitsubishi Electric BC branch.
- Primary duties are to work with the commercial BC & YT outside commercial sales engineers and manager and assist with design of commercial HVAC products and solutions and generate mechanical design specifications for complete range of products.
- Support commercial sales engineers and manager to facilitate the sales and implementation of our products range.
- Assist and prepare in the presentations for seminars on products, their correct application, selection and design, aimed at conveying the benefits of our systems to the consulting engineer's community.
- Develop sales and application tools/materials which will assist with increase in base specifications of our products.
- Liaise with sales team and assist in the introduction of new products and technologies to the market.
- Work with internal commercial service team to assist in the resolution of technical issues as required.
- Effectively manage and technically support assigned engineering consulting engineer accounts.
- Support our customers and external sales engineers across BC & Yukon, on system design and other activities that will help expand the sales of our products.
- Provide regular reports to Commercial Business Manager, HVAC Division.
- Engage as an active participant in local industry organizations such as ASHRAE, CAGBC etc.
- Promote and ensure positive relationships with all customers through regular communication of product related information.

Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or building services engineering. – is preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an application/inside sales engineer for commercial applied/engineered HVAC product manufacturer.
- Proven ability to prioritize and manage a range of tasks working in a fast moving/energetic work environment
- Energetic, resourceful, eager to learn and self-motivated with autonomous problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Excellent ability to bring a sense of customer-focus and professional ethics to all aspects for the task.
- Strong Application Engineering acumen with ability to develop and support system design concepts.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities
- Experience in VRFs, ASHPs, ERVs, MUAs, DOAS, Hydronics, Air to water, domestic hot water and DX coils selections is preferable.
- Standing member of ASHRAE, P.Eng. (EIT) or LEED certification is an asset.
- Comprehensive experience working with software formats such as Microsoft Office, AUTOCAD etc.
- Knowledge of building energy modelling software would be considered an asset.
