Area Production Innovation Agronomist


As a member of the Area Field Production Mission team, this opportunity encompasses the implementation of the NA Production Research Pipeline through positioning the introduction of new products, systems and technologies. More specifically it supports optimizing field production processes, ensuring seamless execution of missions, and enabling overall mission team efficiency through Operational Discipline and Excellence. Daily tasks will vary with objectives to enhance operational excellence, aligning with the company’s Commercial and Pre-Commercial production goals and customer expectations.


This is a permanent position based out of Cranbrook, BC or Lethbridge, AB Bayer site locations.


What you will do:


Mission Success:

  • Collaborate with Field Production Missions to plan and coordinate operational activities and alignment to operate within field P&L.
  • Ensure key agronomic resources and messages (using all types of media) are available to key stakeholders
  • Ensure the timely and efficient execution of Commercial production plans, aligning with mission objectives.
  • Ensure execution of Pre-Commercial and Foundation Crop plans to meet advancement targets.
  • Apply technical expertise to complex challenges impacting Product Supply; from research and development through commercially deployed products
  • Execute strategy through operational leadership by connecting with various networks around pipeline planning targets for current and future technologies.

Resourcing:


Key Tasks:

  • Optimize resource allocation for field production, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
  • Accelerates projects which enable the incremental savings target for NA - a portion of the $25M incremental savings enabled by global production research every year through partnerships.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Streamline field production processes to enhance overall efficiency though Operational Disciple.
  • Explore & facilitate continuous improvement initiatives to address operational challenges and bottlenecks.
  • Interact with Production Research to collaborate around Field Optimization Production Strategies
  • Assist with representing Product Supply in the "crop advancement" processes. Key driver to maximize profitability through lower product cost options

Quality Assurance:

  • Champion quality control measures in field processes, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to address and resolve any qualityrelated issues.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze operational data to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Help support the collection of high quality research, data, and results to impact Manufacturing decisions and process.
  • Accountable for achieving a high level of customer (Product Supply, Corn States, and Licensing Partners) experiences and interactions through the development of 1,000+ field production guides
  • Drive the adoption of precision agriculture, spatial data analysis, field imaging, and new technologies to high quality Seed Production.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Provide regional collaboration between Production Research teams and the Field Operations Network to meet the needs of local seed production.
  • Collaborated with Safety and Regulated/Steward Compliance teams to ensure operational compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Strong communication skills necessary to conduct business, work crossfunctionally with multiple stakeholders in a positive, constructive, matrix environment.

Integrated Financial Operations:

  • Support end-to-end financial processes related to field production, including grower accounting, accounts payable, and invoice processing.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely financial transactions.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business, Operations Management; or a minimum of High School and 6 years of applicable experience
  • Strong knowledge of agronomy
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Given the nature of the work, ability to work during days, weekends and overtime as business needs require
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 60 lbs. (a bag of seed)
  • Able to travel to both Lethbridge, AB and Cranbrook, BC
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Adaptable and able to thrive in a dynamic and varied operational environment
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and efficiency

This posting complies with the British Columbia Pay Transparency Act. The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $120,000.
