PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Under the general direction of the Facilities Manager, Director of Operations and CAO, the Arena Attendantwill be responsible for the daily operation of the Trochu Arena. Duties may involve responsibility for specific tasks, general maintenance, janitorial functions, ice maintenance, and projects. Most of the hours will be during weekday evenings and weekends. This is a temporary part-time position and will terminate when the ice is no longer required in the arena.
Under the general direction of the Facilities Manager, Director of Operations & CAO, the Arena Attendantwill perform the following tasks:
- Assist with scheduling the arena usage
- Responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of the Trochu Arena and its associated structures.
- Plumbing, electrical, mechanical and HVAC maintenance as required
- Undertake manual labour
- Snow/Ice/Sand/Salt from facility parking lots and sidewalks
- Use a variety of hand tools
- Operate janitorial equipment
- Operation of the ice re-surfacer
- May be required to perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time
- Working with facility user groups on assigned projects
- Meeting & dealing with the public and handling routine inquiries
- Being required to assume on-call duties
- Completing special assignments as directed by Facilities Manager, Director of Operations and/or CAO
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
To be effective in the performance of the position described above, an individual would require the following:
KNOWLEDGE:
- A minimum of Grade 12 education
- Hold a valid class 5 driver’s license
- Knowledge in the operation and maintenance of recreation buildings and equipment
SKILLS:
- Physically fit with the ability to withstand normal working conditions
- Ability to effectively organize work and to establish priorities
- Ability to follow written and oral direction effectively
- Ability to establish and maintain a high degree of public confidence and public relations
- Ability to operate ice re-surfacer
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing are required
- Strong interpersonal relationship skills are essential
- Planning, scheduling, and coordinating skills are critical to position
- Ability to deliver quality customer service is required
- Ability to effectively represent the interests of the municipality
- Punctuality and reliability
EDUCATION:
The knowledge required to adequately perform the duties of this position will have been gained through completion of a grade 12 education. Arena certification would be looked upon as an asset if employed by the Town of Trochu.
DESIRED SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Level 1 Arena Operations Certification
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicles Operators License
- Drivers Abstract
- Criminal Record Check
- Vulnerability Check
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $15.00-$20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
