Directly Reporting To: Asphalt Plant Foreman and Asphalt Operations Manager

Positions Available: One (1) Full Time

Responsibilities:

You will coordinate with construction operations teams and complete facility maintenance to assure product quality and completion of the overall plant operations schedule. The ideal candidate is experienced in the operation of computerized Asphalt Plants and/or Aggregate

Equipment Operations, and knowledgeable of quality control/quality assurance of various asphalt and granular materials. The ideal candidate should possess a mechanical aptitude and some experience in basic welding/fabrication, electrical, millwrighting and/or loader operation. They will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to positively motivate team members, and will work well independently and as part of a team. Experience in the above areas is an asset, however, training will be provided to the right motivated individual.

Key Responsibilities, include:

• Complete daily cleaning and lubrication of Asphalt Plant components and other associated plant equipment. Conduct daily pre-operational maintenance checks on plant equipment, report issues and complete appropriate follow-up actions.
• Operate the Asphalt Plant controls efficiently to produce hot mix asphalt and minimize waste while effectively planning plant start up, load out and mix changes to meet daily production schedules.
• Communicate effectively with paving Foreman, Superintendents, Operations Managers, and other plant staff to ensure plant and paving production targets are achieved daily.
• Ability to access all areas of the plant to perform necessary maintenance and repairs.

Including working at heights & confined space (training will be provided if necessary)

• Complete daily production, inventory, maintenance logs etc.
• Responsible for the preservation of maintenance tools, equipment, and work area.

• Demonstrate a commitment to safety by following and enforcing rules & guidelines established by the company and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Other duties as assigned by Asphalt Plant Foreman.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Mechanically inclined, motivated and willing to learn.
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Team player and positive crew motivator.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Must be physically fit and able to respectively lift and carry 50 LBS regularly.
• Experience operating an Asphalt Plant and plant mixing software is considered an asset.
• Welding and Oxy/Acetylene torch experience is considered an asset.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours, weekends, nights, etc.
• Valid G-Class License.

Employment Package:

• Regular 10 hours per day, rotating shifts day/night.
• Monday to Friday. Occasional weekend shifts as required.
• Overtime after 10 hours daily at the rate of 1 ½ times the regular hourly rate.
• Overtime at the rate of 1 ½ times the regular hourly rate for work on Saturday’s.
• Overtime at the rate of 2 times the regular hourly rate for work on Sunday’s.
• A nightshift premium of $1.50 will be paid for all hours worked on a shift scheduled to commence after 6pm.
