Assessment & Tax annually prepares fair and equitable property assessments within Calgary for the purpose of taxation. As an Assessment & Tax Assistant, you will provide technical and administrative assistance for a variety of project-based functions that are critical to valuation processes, data verification and quality assurance, administrative operations, and governance functions. Primary duties include:
- Collect and/or verify data from a variety of sources.
- Conduct data reconciliation and quality assurance.
- Organize and process incoming and outgoing documents.
- Participate in special projects or other duties as required.
- Projects include:
- Provide operational support for intake of Assessment Requests for Information (ARFI) including document sorting, file conversion, digitization, file optimization, and loading to CS10.
- Review, enter and contact customers regarding multi-residential or non-residential ARFI.
- Enter building data from construction permits/plans and leasing information received from property owners and managers intoa database.
- Review residential sales information and update data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Provide technology support with ensuring hardware & software is functional and up to date and technology inventory is accurate.
- Provide operational support for tribunal administration including processing, tracking, and communicating information about complaints to the Assessment Review Board (ARB).
- Assist in Data analysis and entry of Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPP) information.
Qualifications
- A High School diploma or equivalent (for example: GED) combined with at least 1 year of post-secondary education in a related field.
- At least 6 months of work experience in business administration, data management, real estate, customer service or a related field is required.
- Preference will be given to applicants who are enrolled in a degree program.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook is required.
- Success in this position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills and excellent organizational ability.
