Steele Hotels is seeking an Assistant Controller to permanently join our team in St. John’s, NL.

The Assistant Controller will work closely with the Financial Controller to prepare financial statements and financial analysis for the group's entities. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and possess a positive "can-do" attitude. They would possess a high level of professionalism including integrity and confidentially, excellent time management skills, coupled with a strong work ethic, critical thinking skills and a keen eye for details.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversight of all activities for the day-to-day Accounts Receivable function including customer onboarding, reconciling and posting payments, customer follow-up, and reporting
- Prepare monthly journal entries;
- Reconcile intercompany accounts;
- Assist and prepare monthly bank reconciliations;
- Perform monthly reconciliations of different financial statement accounts;
- Other activities that support the month end financial statement and year end process.
- Support to the payroll department in the processing of bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees across all hotels;
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes:
- Minimum three years’ experience in a similar position;
- The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration with a concentration in accounting;
- An accounting designation or working towards a designation is considered an asset;
- Ability to multi-task and be flexible to changing needs of the business;
- Team player who thrives in a collaborative environment;
- Excellent communication skills.

Salary: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
