Come Join our team! We are currently looking to fill our Assistant Manager position at the Kanata Location (767 Silver Seven rd). This job has aspects of both baking our Vegan, Kosher, Gluten and Nut free product and providing our Kanata Store Manager with help to carry out the day to day operations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
On top of the regular duties and responsibilities of a baker, the Assistant Manager's Duties & Responsibilities include the following:
- Lead the supervisors, and in conjunction with them, ensure all staff receive proper training on all products and know SBB policies and procedures as well as deliver performance management should problems arise.
- Ensure that staff conversation is kept work appropriate and that staff do not let conversation get in the way of productivity.
- Check and maintain product consistency (look, taste, weight), and keep an eye on waste management, coming up with solutions when needed
- Ensure that all product is properly stored and rotated and that nothing goes past point of expiry
- Work with the supervisory team to prioritize tasks for all staff on the floor to ensure everyone is working as efficiently as possible and that the production list and cleaning get done in a timely manner.
- Work with the FOH team to oversee the store being ready to open at the 8am (this includes s/o and w/s are ready on time) and or close the store at the end of the day and ensure closing duties are done in a timely manner (delegate and watch the clock)
- Responsible for filling in when the schedule needs it (busy times of year, short staffed) including ensuring the bakery is staffed appropriately (enough people to do morning baking tasks, locking up at night, etc.)
- Ensure that all parts of the bakery are kept clean and safe to work in.
- Keep an eye on the display case/freezer/coffee&tea and ensure it is as stocked and clean as possible. Delegate appropriately.
- Along with the supervisory team, answer the phone and check/respond to voicemail.
- Assist Store Manager as needed (ie with ordering & putting away ingredients/inventory, production lists, input on staff reviews, scheduling, human resources, etc.)
- Check and pull to numbers from online store, create production lists. This will also include communicating with the Specialty Orders Manager about upcoming orders.
- Foster employee development, motivation and recognition
- Provide superior customer service, assisting the FOH staff in serving customers when the store gets busy or delegating accordingly.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $20.00-$21.00 per hour
