Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Shop Manager/Assistant Production Manager to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing facility, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met. This position requires strong organizational and leadership skills, as well as a passion for woodworking and craftsmanship.

Responsibilities:

  • Production Oversight:
  • Assist in planning and organizing daily production schedules to meet project deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the Shop Manager to allocate resources effectively and optimize workflow.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Provide guidance and support to production staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Assist in training new team members on company processes, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the Shop Manager to conduct performance reviews and address any performance issues.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Assist in managing inventory levels and ordering materials to ensure production continuity.
  • Work closely with the procurement team to source cost-effective and high-quality materials.
  • Implement and maintain inventory control procedures to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Conduct regular quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet company standards.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to identify and address any quality issues promptly.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to create a secure working environment.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Collaborate with the Shop Manager to implement best practices and new technologies.
  • Actively participate in regular team meetings to share insights and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a woodworking or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications and tools.
