Petrospec Engineering is currently looking for an Engineer to work in our Edmonton office as part of our growing team. This will be an office-based position but with a meaningful portion of the first two years spent learning on the job as part of our manufacturing and field installation teams.

The Assistant Project Engineer, EIT is a junior member of the account team providing support to the account team by independently producing documents such as cost estimates, technical drawings, calculation worksheets, and proposals. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: CAD, technical expertise, job quoting, equipment design, project management, and safety and loss management.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in servicing assigned customer account(s) or projects by producing documents including but not limited to cost estimates, technical drawings and supporting documentation, calculation worksheets, and proposals.
  • Prepare technical proposals and commercial estimates as directed by the Engineering Manager or more senior engineers.
  • Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to customers.
  • Assist in managing all aspects of executing awarded projects including document review, selecting appropriate technologies, product design, component procurement, QA/QC compliancy, and coordinating manufacturing or packaging with manufacturing staff.
  • Assist in planning and participate in the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of goods sold.
  • Demonstrate sound practice in all engineering activities in accordance with internal procedures and APEGA standards.
  • Participate in efforts towards continuous improvement of our products and services in the areas of safety, cost efficiency, and technical capability.
  • Assist in the execution of the strategic business development plan for meeting targets and building new business.
  • Participate as an active member of manufacturing and field operations.

Qualifications

· Degree in Mechanical engineering preferred, equivalent education and experience may be considered.

· Familiarity with oil field (particularly thermal oilwell or SAGD operations), facility, pipeline or construction industries considered an asset.

· Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable independently working with customers and vendors in meetings, calls, and e-mails.

· Service oriented, willing to seek creative technical and logistical solutions for customers to meet their timelines.

· Understanding of interdisciplinary engineering (e.g., mechanical, electrical, computer, petroleum) considered an asset.

· Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work within strict deadlines to meet customer expectations.

· Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

· Proficiency in the any PLC language, Python, JavaScript, Java considered an asset

· Eligible for registration with APEGA.
