Position Overview:

The Assistant Sales Manager is at the helm in terms of Food Service Contract business, ensuring our compliance with national and regional food service contracts, and holding a complete understanding of all aspects of our service level agreements to ensure 100% compliance. Leading at a high level, the ASM holds an understanding of each contract while supporting the NMU and RMU Coordinator team in their consistent execution of contract-related duties.

In tandem with FSC requirements, and in full support of the broad success of the overall sales portfolio, the ASM is expected to be a versatile leader, adding value to our sales functions while automating transactional behaviors. Consistently supporting the development, and execution, of the overall business plan. The ASM’s engagement in business development activities, customer relationship management, and on the job training, are all daily components of the job.

This position is based out of our head office location in Bay Roberts, NL.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Assistant Sales Manager in the wholesale food distribution industry, you would have several key responsibilities:

  • Customer Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with both retail and foodservice customers is crucial. You'll need to understand their specific needs, preferences, and challenges to provide tailored solutions.
  • Sales Strategy: Assisting in the development and execution of sales strategies to increase revenue and market share. This may involve identifying growth opportunities, setting sales targets, and creating action plans to achieve them.
  • Product Knowledge: Being well-versed in the products your company offers is essential. You should understand the features, benefits, and applications of various food products to effectively communicate with customers.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of sales representatives reporting to you; providing leadership, coaching, and support to help your team reach their sales goals.
  • Order Management: Ensuring smooth order processing and fulfillment is crucial. You'll need to coordinate with logistics and operations teams to make sure orders are delivered on time and in the right quantities.
  • Market Analysis: Staying informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics is essential. This knowledge will aid in the adaptation of sales strategies and identify new opportunities.
  • Customer Support: Resolving customer complaints and issues promptly and professionally to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Training and Development: Support the training and development of yourself and the sales team to keep remain up to date on product knowledge and sales techniques.

In this role, you will need strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of the food wholesale industry. Being adaptable, organized, and analytical will also be important for success in this position. Additionally, staying current with industry trends and technological advancements can give you a competitive edge in serving your customers and growing our business.
