The City of Swift Current is seeking an individual for a permanent full-time Assistant Storekeeper / Warehouse Stores Person. This position reports to the Manager of Procurement and is responsible for the receiving and issuing of stocked materials in a central receiving and automated Inventory control system. The Storesperson provides a high level of customer service, providing materials and information requested or needed by user departments (customers). The Storesperson is responsible for general housekeeping duties within the designated controlled storage areas, maintaining a neat, orderly and safe work environment.
Basic Requirements:
Completion of Grade 12 plus post-secondary courses relating to Inventory and Materials Handling;
Minimum 1-year job related experience in receiving and shipping materials and with Computerized Inventory Management System as well as basic window-based computer applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook and, Internet);
Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Drivers License;
Willingness to obtain a Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check as we are a Youth Certified Employer;
Forklift certification;
WHMIS certification;
Ability to operate material handling equipment;
Ability to handle physical labour moving materials and equipment as required;
Knowledge of record keeping procedure in relation to reception, issuance and inventory control of materials;
Knowledge of rules and regulations in relation to shipping and receiving; and
Must possess excellent problem-solving, organizational, customer service, public relations, written and oral communication skills.
