What is the opportunity?
Responsible for assisting with the originating and underwriting of new Asset Based Lending (ABL) loans for the Canadian Banking (CFS/CCG) platforms. ABL loans must be structured to meet the client's needs whilst at the same time ensuring that RBC's risk is mitigated. This will involve assisting senior ABL Originators with (i) working with internal and external contacts to evaluate new business opportunities and sell RBC's capabilities to external clients, (ii) preparing credit submissions which adhere to RBC's credit and risk policies (iii) requesting approval for the credit submission from both risk and the business unit (iv) negotiating loan documentation in a manner which accurately reflects the transaction (v) coordinating with internal and external counterparties to ensure the transaction is properly completed.
What will you do?
Assist on new transactions by completing credit and collateral analysis. This can include completing credit and business committee approval submissions, building financial and borrowing availability models, analysis of 3rd party due diligence reports such as inventory appraisals and field exams and complete loan pricing models.
During the transaction negotiation process, assist with ensuring that all approvals are obtained on material items.
Assist with documentation negotiation which can include loan agreements, intercreditor agreements, landlord waivers, cash management documents, etc.
Maintain ongoing contact with the client to ensure that expectations are met.
Assist with completion of Know Your Client / Anti Money Laundering documents and requirements
Help with the transitioning of new clients to the relevant Portfolio Manager and Portfolio Analyst
Assist with the preparation of prospect reviews and term sheets
Track and maintain various databases and reports such as deal pipelines, prospect databases, market updates, structure/pricing precedents, etc.
Assist with the preparation of ABL pitches and internal product/market updates
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
1-3 years underwriting/relationship management and/or credit writing experience in a corporate lending/finance role
Strong financial and risk analysis skills
High level of attention to detail in all written communication and financial analysis
Strong negotiation and client/relationship management skills
Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills; confident, credible and personable
Ability to prioritize work and manage competing demands, perform well under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines
Nice to have
Graduate degree and/or professional designation such as CPA, CFA
Familiarity with Asset Based Lending structures and market trends
Experience negotiating security documentation and loan agreements
