What You’ll Be Doing
The Capital Markets arm of CIBC provides corporate, government and institutional clients with innovative solutions to help them raise capital and grow and invest actively throughout North America and key financial centres around the world. To deliver on its vision to be our clients’ preferred capital markets banking partner across multiple products and services, both in Canada and where our core competencies can be exported. The Capital Markets mission is to bring Canadian Capital Markets products to Canada and the rest of the world and bring the world to Canada.

How You’ll Succeed
As an Associate in the Equity Markets, Business Management group, you will work closely with our Equity Research Analysts and Associates as related to coverage and initiatives across all sectors. The position also provides the opportunity to liaise with our Sales, Trading and Investment Banking colleagues as required. The candidate should have solid knowledge of accounting and finance to be successful in this role.
You will learn and develop knowledge for financial analysis and about the capital markets. You will also support the broader team with ongoing data and analysis for research and basic administrative tasks.
Key Accountabilities:
Key Administrator for the Equity Research Authoring System, FactSet; a complex system that requires skills in Finance, Excel, Market Data systems (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet, Capital IQ, Refinitiv), Equity Research and Compliance,
Review and obtain approval for numerous client requests (average 30-50/week) - entitlement to our research reports, models, and estimates
Assist in the preparation of client marketing presentations, which includes researching and analyzing industry trends,
Provide business management support for regulatory and compliance initiatives as required.
Support with data and analysis for research,
Maintenance for several databases,
The Administrator is responsible for providing daily systems support to existing employees and training for new hires,
Liaison between the business and the relevant stakeholders and infrastructure partners regarding system initiatives and issues,
Assist with updates and creation of various business procedural training manuals,
Assist business with technology implementation, including testing of new functionalities for FactSet development.

Education You’ve Completed. Minimum of an undergraduate degree in finance or equivalent
Industry Experience. 2-3 years industry-related experience and understanding capital markets industry. Possesses strong analytical and quantitative skills. General knowledge of operational and regulatory risks associated with Equity Research business.
Technical Skills. High proficiency knowledge of PC applications - specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and databases using Access and/or SQL. Working knowledge of financial software (i.e., Bloomberg, FactSet) is an asset.
Collaborative. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently in a deadline-oriented environment. Strong multi-tasking and time management skills.
