Vallillee Family Lawyers is hiring for the position of Junior Family Law Associate, with a projected start date of mid-March to mid-April of 2024. The successful candidate will have a strong demonstrated interest in family and/or child protection law, and will be eager to work as a part of a small, close-knit team. We are looking for candidates who have excellent communication skills, a passion for helping clients succeed, and an entrepreneurial spark. We are a friendly, professional team who believe in maintaining a healthy work-life balance and enjoying our work together as much as possible.
This is a salaried, full-time employment opportunity. As an associate at Vallillee Family Lawyers, you will take on your own file load and may assist on other files from time-to-time. The balance of work on your own files vs junioring on other files will depend somewhat on your level of experience, but the ideal candidate will be ready to jump into work independently on cases assigned to them and to take on new client intakes right away.
We take on divorce, separation, child protection/CAS and other family-related litigation and contractual matters. You will have the opportunity to explore your various professional interests across the different areas of family practice, and will have the mentorship and guidance of a well-known and respected member of London’s family law bar.
What you bring to the table:
- Member in good standing with the LSO
- JD or LLB from a recognized/accredited common law program
- Entitlement to work in Canada
- Excellent time-management skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- 1-3 years experience in family law (articling experience is acceptable and counted)
- Ability and willingness to work in person on a regular basis
What we bring to the table:
- Salary: Commensurate with experience, but expected to start between $65,000 - $75,000 for a new call taking on more legal aid, while a starting salary of $80,000+ is possible for candidates with more experience or files they intend to bring with them.
- First salary review after six months, followed by annual salary reviews based on performance.
- We pay all LSO and LawPro fees on your behalf, and provide opportunities for CPD each year,
- Vision, dental, prescription and health benefits available.
- Supportive, friendly, and professional environment that values work-life balance and a friendly, supportive team-based setting.
- Administrative assistance, equipment, and supplies are all provided by the office. This is a true salaried employment opportunity, not an “in association with” or “build your own practice” posting.
Applications will be treated in the strictest confidence. We will not contact your current employer or references without your prior approval.
