What is the opportunity?
The Associate is a member of theRBC Capital Markets (RBCCM) Business Transformation and Governance (BT&G) team, which reports to the COO.
Reporting to the Head, COO Business Management, you will be an integral member of the team and a major contributor to the team’s deliverables, which include the following:
- COO Business Management
- Facilitate annual COO Group priorities / goals setting working with the COO group leadership across Canada, the U.S., Europe, and APAC
- Support in the annual business planning process (in partnership with Performance Mgmt.), including plan and preparing the deck for the CEO
- Help in organizing leadership offsites to identify and frame new opportunities within COO Group and with key projects
- Assist in the preparation of the COO Scorecard (financials + progress on priorities + key KPIs) including insights / opportunities to action
- Plan and facilitate quarterly COO Town Halls
- Understand and monitor COO cost allocations to the business
- Talent Strategy / Resource Management – including employee engagement and custom training
- Special Projects
- Provide support in cross-CM projects sponsored by COO Leadership
- Support policy implementation (e.g. Standing Orders)
- Support enterprise priority initiatives from CAO / CFO
What will you do?
- Apply exceptional business acumen and strategic / financial analysis to execute on assigned projects and/or project tasks, including planning, analysis, assessment of alternatives / develop recommendations, and communication of results
- Develop key relationships within the Businesses and Functions, as well as broadly across RBC, to facilitate project execution and the transfer of knowledge after project completion
- Apply knowledge of theCapital Markets industry to recognize opportunities and develop business-aligned recommendations for revenue generation and cost savings in collaboration with Strategy and Transformation / COO leadership, the Businesses, and Functions (e.g. Finance, IT, and Risk)
- Regularly report progress of work stream status, milestones, achievements, and risks / issues in both formal and informal settings
- Provide coaching and mentoring to the team’s Associates / Analysts
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
- 3-5 years of management consulting work experience and/or business management experience
- Demonstrated track record, strong business analysis and business communication skills
- Proficiency with PowerPoint (strong storyboarding of presentations) and Excel (financial modelling, pivot tables, lookups, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability in stakeholder and relationship management
- Eagerness to learn and passion for solving complex ambiguous business problems
- General financial acumen
- Undergraduate university degree required
Nice-to-have:
- General knowledge of Capital Markets Industry/Products (e.g., Corporate & Investment Banking, Global Markets) and/or experience working in Capital Markets
- Understanding of risk management and financial performance management
- Masters university degree (e.g. MBA, MFin)
