ASSOCIATE PHYSICIAN
CLINICAL TEACHING UNIT (CTU)
REGULAR FULL TIME (1.0 FTE)

BC Children’s Hospital & the University of British Columbia, Department of Pediatrics are seeking an Associate Physician to provide clinical and academic services.

This position is for coverage of Inpatient Pediatrics, which would include covering Clinical Teaching Unit (CTU), as well other clinical areas including consultation services to surgical and non-surgical patients, and service on surge units (blue team) and managing in hospital pediatric patients in a tertiary care centre setting. This includes all aspects of care including admission, procedures, daily rounding etc. In addition to a demonstration of a strong commitment to academic hospital-based General Pediatrics, applicants will also have a level of education, training, and experience as required to be registered by the College of Physician & Surgeons of British Columbia in the Associate Physician class.

Applicants come with the ability to perform within the scope of Associate Physician duties and responsibilities. Applicants are able to interact, and adapt effectively with other professionals in complex, dynamic situations. Ability to communicate and collaborate with families about health findings, diagnosis, treatment, prognosis and follow up. Applicants bring demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with other health professionals and disciplines using a variety of communication strategies. Applicants bring excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team and the ability to document in accordance with CPSBC and organizational standards, policies, and guidelines. Applicants demonstrate the ability to perform assessments and to perform investigations.

You will receive an appropriate appointment at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Medicine.

Priority will be given to those who have demonstrated a commitment to hospital based practice and skills outlined above. PALS or the equivalent certification is an expectation.
