Associate/Full Professor, Tenure Track, Endowed Chair in Early Language Announcement

About the Position:

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, within the Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences at Baylor University, invites applications and nominations to fill the Vance Masteller Endowed Research Chair in Early Language. We are seeking a candidate with an outstanding history of excellence in research, mentoring, and teaching to join our collaborative faculty. Application reviews will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. To be fully considered all application materials must be submitted by December 15th, 2023.

The position entails responsibilities that include maintaining a visionary, collaborative research agenda, departmental teaching, mentoring, and engaging in departmental, university, and professional service. The successful candidate is expected to have an established, nationally recognized, independent research program with extramural funding.

In addition to engaging in collaborative research endeavors, active participation in departmental, university, and professional service activities is expected, such as serving on committees, contributing to curriculum development, mentoring students, serving on grant review panels, and/or engaging in community outreach initiatives. The academic rank for this position will be at the Associate Professor or Full Professor level; the salary is commensurate with experience and credentials.

About the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders offers residential bachelor’s, residential and online master’s, and PhD degrees in Speech-Language Pathology; the program is CAA-certified. Currently, the program is comprised of more than 300 undergraduate students, 100 residential graduate students, nearly 400 online graduate students, and six PhD students.

Qualifications

A Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Communication Sciences and Disorders and/or Speech and Hearing Sciences is required. Qualifications include a history of outstanding research, mentoring, external funding, and teaching. Applicants should possess a philosophy that is compatible with the stated mission of the University to be a world-class research institution dedicated to Christian principles and ideals.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences & Disorders with expertise in Early Language. ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) and eligibility for Texas state licensure is preferred.
