DVSA’s Annual Art Auction is the region’s premiere art event and the school’s largest fundraiser, featuring over 1,400 artworks by new and established artists. Bidding is online with in-person art previews available during the week-long event. There's also a Live Auction evening.
We require the support of two assistants to work on-site and help bring this event together.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with artwork photography
- Carrying out artwork photo editing and preparation
- Coordination of the auction website – data management, verification, updates and uploads, etc.
- Assistance with installation of art throughout building
- On-site crew during in-person auction previews
- Post-auction artwork packing and pick-up
- Possible building preparation (painting and setting up studios, moving furniture and art, etc.)
- Helping to coordinate volunteers
Candidates for this role should be:
- Technology proficient and comfortable using web-based software, database software, MS suite etc.
- Essential – Have experience and an intermediate knowledge of photo processing and editing software, particularly Adobe Photoshop and/or Lightroom
- An organized, enthusiastic self-starter
- Detailed-oriented
- Comfortable with being on-site for the event and interacting with the public
- Comfortable with physical labour including going up and down ladders, painting walls, lifting, carrying, dealing with stairs, etc.
- Knowledgeable about the basics of art media
Language: English (required)
Dates and hours: March 11 to April 19/2024 (6 weeks). Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. with some weekend hours in addition around auction time. Need to be available Saturday March 30th on the Easter weekend.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Salary: $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
